What is your favorite Disney movie?

What's your favorite Disney movie (or what are your favorite Disney movies) and why?

My favorite animated classic is "The Black Cauldron". It's not one I grew up with- I first saw it when I was 16 or 17. I had read about it a bit, and I saw a clip online that featured Gurgi, and I was hooked. I bought the VHS at a flea market, and watched it twice that day. My favorite part of Disney movies is the characters, and I really like the characters, especially Gurgi. It's action-packed, and funny.

My second favorite DAC is "Aladdin"- I've just always really enjoyed the film. I want to go on a magic carpet ride. Again, the characters are great.

Third is "The Little Mermaid". Same as above, I've just always enjoyed the film. The story just captures my attention...

    As for live-action:

"Newsies". I first saw it on Disney Channel when I was young, and I loved it. I didn't remember much about it when I bought it on DVD, but I remembered liking it. I watched it every day at least once for a while after buying the DVD. I love the music, and the choreography is amazing. I love it.

"Return to Oz". I blind-bought the film and am so glad I did. It's very magical. As much as I like the original "The Wizard of Oz", this one is more magical, at least to me. It's suspenseful and I like the darkness of it mixed with the good characters. So much fun.

So, those are mine- what are all of yours?

I would probably have to go with Toy Story. It was such a amazing movie.

People ask me this question a lot and I give it far more thought than I should, so I break it down into Disney eras:

    The Early Years (1937-41): Fantasia
The Golden Age (50-67): Peter Pan/Mary Poppins
The After Walt Years (70-88): The Black Cauldron/Oliver & Company
Second Golden Age (89-99): The Lion King

I'm sure people have qualms about the years, but these are based on lots of reading and research.

I don't know if I can choose just one movie. I did just see Alice in Wonderland...and love it, because it is based on my favorite childhood book. I love Toy Story, also...because I remember all those toys as a kid-and now by them as classics for my own kids and grandkids. Also love Lion King!

I love classics like Escape to Witch Mountain and Bedknobs and Broomsticks...and I love that my young kids love them as if they were new releases!

Love the music from the Jungle Book, Hercules and The Princess and the Frog--which is good because once I get the songs in my head, they are stuck there all day.

Also love Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland--such a layered and interesting adaptation.
